The Audiovisual Council organized next seminar for the students of BSU
On April 23, 2025 the Audiovisual Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan organized a training seminar on the topic "Children's Rights in Audiovisual Media" for the students of the Faculty of Journalism of Baku State University (BSU).
First, Aynur Nasirova, head of the Department of International Journalism and Information Policy of BSU, emphasized the importance of the three-year-long cooperation with the Audiovisual Council. She noted that the organization of training seminars is important in terms of developing students' practical knowledge and allows for a deeper understanding of their chosen profession.
Then, Taleh Guliyev, head of the Communication Division of the Audiovisual Council, gave detailed information about the activities and events on protection of children in media carried out by the Council in recent years, including the 11th Meeting of the Black Sea Broadcasting Regulatory Authorities Forum (BRAF), recently organized in Baku by the Council and dedicated to the topic of "Protection of Children in Media Services". Taleh Guliyev also provided information about the booklets published by the Council in Azerbaijani and English titled “Protection of Children's Rights in Audiovisual Media”, as well as Council's awareness-raising initiatives for television and radio broadcasters.
During of the seminar, Aykhan Sadigly, chief adviser of the Department of the Law and International Cooperation of the Audiovisual Council, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the topic "Protection of Children's Rights in the Media". Aykhan Sadigly provided students with detailed information about the audiovisual media entities and protection of children's rights in their activities, as well as the requirements of legislation in this field and implementation mechanisms. He also discussed state policy on child protection, the study of international practices in this field and Azerbaijan's accession to international conventions.
The seminar continued with interactive format with answers to students’ questions and explanations real life cases and examples. Booklets titled "Protection of Children's Rights in Audiovisual Media" were donated to the library of the Faculty of Journalism.
It should be noted that the seminars regularly held at BSU are conducted in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Audiovisual Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Media Development Agency and BSU.
