Combating illegal (pirate) audiovisual media activities
Illegal audiovisual media activities are one of the most serious problems in the modern information environment. This activity undermines the state's economic interests, violates the rights of media entities operating under the legislation, and harms the provision of reliable and sustainable information to citizens. It also puts the information security of society at risk. The Audiovisual Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan considers the prevention of these cases to be one of its important tasks.
In this direction, the Audiovisual Council works closely with other state bodies, such as the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport and its subordinate bodies, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Customs Committee, and the State Tax Service under the Ministry of Economy, the Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control State Agency, and so on. Thanks to this cooperation, the detection, prevention and enforcement of illegal (pirate) audiovisual media activities are being implemented more effectively.
One of the main goals of the Audiovisual Council is to ensure the healthy development of the audiovisual sphere. The fight against illegal (piracy) activities aims to protect the rights of media entities and ensure a competitive environment. This also contributes to the sustainable development of the creative industry and the media market in the country.
As in other countries, the fight against illegal (pirate) audiovisual media activities in Azerbaijan is not limited to administrative measures and fines. Awareness-raising activities, public information, and explanation of legal mechanisms are also an important part of this process. The Audiovisual Council implements these measures within its powers and pays special attention to the protection of legal activity. The fight against illegal (pirate) audiovisual media activity is possible through joint cooperation of state agencies, civic responsibility and the support of media entities operating in accordance with the legislation.
